i spent most of the day talking about lord of the rings (the books and the movies) with rachel. we are meeting andy serkis (gollum!) on tuesday the thirteenth. that's right. he's going to be at the borders on michigan avenue signing his book, which isn't the most important part. i would really like to hear him say, "my preciousssss" and "gollum, gollum" because it's cool when he does that. i hope he's nice. rachel met chuck palahniuk the year before last and said that he was ridiculously nice, and he even signed something for me because i couldn't be there to meet him. and this is the guy who wrote fight club and invisible monsters, the most antiscoial, cynical writings of my generation.

so, yes, i hope serkis is nice. because i'm not skipping trig to meet an asshole.
