big entry for this evening. i am going to put this entry into categories if you're too lazy to actually read this whole thing.

farenheit 9/11
i met up with paul at 2 to see farenheit 9/11. that movie was so fascinating. i knew that the white house had a lot of connections to saudi arabia and the bin laden family, but i had no idea how deep-running they are. i was terribly shocked to hear about afghan president karzai's connection to the bush family and their major oil corporation. i feel that this is something that is extremely important to know, so i am going to try my best to explain karzai's connection to oil. a company owned and operated by the bush family and friends called unical was interested in pursuing an oil pipeline that went throughout different middle eastern countries like afgahnistan and pakistan, even before september 11. not much could be done to pursue this option until after the attacks on 9/11. 9/11 comes and goes and bush and his cronies see this as a wonderful oppurtunity to create this oil pipeline in afghanistan by pretending to do a thorough search of the land to find osama bin laden. they sent only 11,000 trips to afghanistan (one congressman said that there are more police officers in manhattan alone than there are in afghanistan). they essentially did a half-assed job to find osama, never questioning the bin laden family about his whereabouts, not getting to crucial areas where osama was known to be roaming until two months after he had left, and not actually taking care of the al-queada problem, just allowing the leaders to run away to find safe haven in other countries. they bascially put on this whole show war to appease the american people to make it seem like they were actually doing something in addition to the fact that they were setting the foundation for the war in iraq. in reality, all they were interested in was profit. they chose a middle eastern, american-educated, attractive man to lead afgahnistan after it was invaded- president karzai. but the thing is...karzai was actually a prominent member of the unical corporation- the same corporation that was interested in building the oil pipeline through the middle east in the first place. only a few weeks after he was put into power, karzai approved of the construction of this pipeline, meaning huge profits for him and bush and his buddies. isn't that insane? i knew that karzai was a "tom" of sorts, but i had no idea how far-reaching and interwoven everything involving the so-called "war in terrorism" is. the american people have been duped, they have been fooled. it's all about profit. you need to see that movie.

after the movie
afterwards, paul and i walked around belmont/boystown trying to find a cd shop that would buy some cds of mine that i had been wanting to sell for some time now. it was fun walking around making fun of all of the really queeny gay guys and the prep school kids roaming together in this eclectic neighborhood. boystown is always good for a laugh. i told paul about my icarus line dilemma earlier, and he sympathized with me, but he was not at all interested in trying to get into the show with me. i could understand this, seeing as how he likes techno and madonna. he was, however, willing to go with me to find out if i could get in myself. after getting some cash for two cds (eight dollars....i'm really rolling in it now), we saw a poster for the icarus line at the bottom lounge. we asked the cashier how we would go about getting to the venue and made our way there.

the icarus line
as we started walking towards the venue, i noticed a really crappy looking coach bus parked on the corner. absolutely convinced that the icarus line were in there, paul and i stood outside of the bus for a couple of minutes when *gasp*, here comes the bass player, don devore, walking down the street towards us. i went up to him (like a total dork, by the way) and told him of my little problem and he seemed genuinely sympathetic and said something about how they try their hardest to make their the shows all ages for people like me. i asked him for an autograph and he was happy to give one to me and i was happy to receive it. i tried to see if he would let me meet the rest of the band on the bus, but he said that they were "sleeping". one of his friends walked up and he dumped me off on her, saying "why don't you talk to her about your problem" and then running on the bus. i talked to this strange woman for about a minute when the drummer, jeff "the captain" watson, stumbled out, wearing a trenchcoat (it was about 85 degress out). he said that he was naked under there and flashed his chest off to me, paul, and the lady i was talking to. i told him of my problem and he replied with, "whoa, serious fan" and mentioned how bummed that he was that i couldn't go. i got an autograph from him as well. so, after standing around for 10 more minutes or so for people to come out of the bus, paul and i decided to go our separate ways and go home. it was a difficult decision for me to make because i really wanted to meet the singer. but, eventually, i made my way to the bus stop. as i was waiting for the bus, who comes shuffling down the street? it was none other than don and the singer, joe cardamone. again, i walked up to them, told the story again, got joe's autograph, told them the cd was fucking awesome (which it is. buy it). they walked in the opposite direction of where i was standing and i didn't see them again. then i waited 20 minutes for the bus and got home a while later. i didn't even need to see the band play (though i am still bitter about that); i met the fucking band. how awesome is that? it all worked out in the end, so i, in turn, am a happy girl. and i will end this entry with this:
